Summer Camp 2005 was a Raging Success
Summer Camp 2005 was held on private property in the Boulder, Wyoming area. Advanced training included all 24 ITF Forms, Korean Weapon(staff,
nunchaku/ee chul bong , knife, sword) forms, Hapkido empty hand defenses, Hapkido rope / belt defenses, Tahn Bong (korean short stick) techniques, concrete slab breaking, and Sword and Staff Sparring Drills and Tournaments.
Several members successfully tested for various Dan rankings. Congratulations to:

Donna Little-Kaumo, 3rd Dan
Michael Call, 2nd Dan
Mark McBride, 2nd Dan
Highlights of the tests included:
Mr. Michael Call II Dan broke one concrete slab with an axe kick.
Mr. Page Gunderson IV Dan broke sets of 4 and 3 concrete slabs with consecutive palm strikes.
Mr. Willie Cederburg IV Dan reminded everyone that he still holds the record: 6 concrete slabs broken with a palm strike.
Mr. Jim Kreinbrink IV Dan broke two slabs(with no spacers) with an elbow strike.
Mr. Willie Cederburg IV Dan again reminded everyone of his record: 6 concrete slabs broken with a palm strike.
Special awards were also given to:
Glynis Cederburg for her contributions
to the Sakidokwan during the camp and throughout the year.
Mr. Michael Call
II Dan was presented with a Katana sword after triumphing in the Staff sparring competition.
Mr Jim Kreinbrink IV Dan was presented with a Katana sword after triumphing in the Sword sparring competition.
Mr. Jim Kreinbrink IV Dan gained special recognition for breaking the most foam covered swords (and one staff) during the weapons sparring. It wasn't necessarily positive recognition. Much stronger replacement Foam Covered Swords and Foam Covered Staffs will be sent promptly from myKarateStore.com, which offers premium quality merchandise that EVEN HE cannot break easily.
Also attending the camp were Grand Master Joseph E. Petty, VIII Dan, Master Brian Kaumo VI Dan, Master David Barbero V Dan, Robert Kreinbrink I Dan, Carol Petty, Richard Call, and Brian Durfey.

relocating to Rock Springs,
Wyoming at the beginning of June. Master Kaumo will be working as
The District Assessment Coordinator for Sweetwater County School
District #1. Master Kaumo plans to work with Grand Master Joseph
E.Petty 8th Dan and Mr. Willie Cederburn 4th Dan in running the Rock
Springs Location.
The four Albuquerque branches of the Saki
Do Kwan will be taken over
by Mr. Rocky Swan 4th Dan, Mrs. Joyce Wolfe 2nd Dan, Mr. Mark and Mrs.

Rock Springs location Grand
Opening
Master Petty, VIII Dan and Willie Cederburg, IV Dan are
pleased to announce the Grand Opening of their new Tae Kwon-Do
studio in Rock Springs, Wyoming on December 6. The school features
a visitor lounge, office, equipment room, changing
rooms,
and
is
larger
than
Master Petty's previous space on Pilot Butte. The school is located at 431
N Front, and prospective students can contact Master Petty at 307-362-1782
for enrollment information.
Master Ron Hartshorn inducted into Black Belt Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Master Ron Hartshorn V DAN who was
inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame on Nov.13, 2004 as Master Instructor
of the Year. GOOD JOB!
Testing and Dan promotion in
West Virginia
Congratulations to Mr.
Tom Balderson, who was recently promoted to 2nd Degree
Black Belt. Gup promotions included Mr. David
Fields(Senior Green), Mr. James Griffith(Senior Green), and Miss
Whitnney Shaffer(Senior Green Hapkido). Master Hartshorn, V Dan
Master, relays: "It
was a great test
with good breaking techniques and very good forms." Congratulations!
Grand Master Joseph E. Petty,
8th Dan relocates
Grand Master Joseph E. Petty,
8th Dan has recently relocated to Rock Springs Wyoming. Grand Master
Petty will be working as a security
officer through the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department, at
the Sweetwater County memorial Hospital.
Grand Master Petty is planning on resuming TaeKwon-Do instruction
within the next few months with the assistance of Mr. Willie Cederburg,
4th Dan.

The Annual Saki Do Kwan Summer Camp was held last weekend in the
Colorado Rockies.

Michael Call, Junior Black Belt, won this year's "Quest for the Sword," defeating 5 different opponents. Master Joseph Petty and several students lead a demonstration of Master Petty's new sword form "East Wind".
Masters Barbero and Kaumo lead knife self defense techniques. Black
Belt patterns were also covered. Master Petty also led a ceremony recognizing
many of the camp participants for their outstanding contribututions
to TaeKwon-Do and the Saki Do Kwan.
Other camp participants included Richard Call, Rocky Swan IV Dan,
Donna Little Kaumo II Dan, Mark McBride I Dan, Leta McBride I Dan.
There were a total of 16 camp attendees this year, including Glynis
Cederburg and Janet Kreinbrink, who played vital supporting roles.
